opening lines

So I’m starting my own blog. (Again.) The first post feels like it should be important. Monumental, kind of. But then again, it’s also possible that hardly anyone will ever read it.

So I doubt my decision to start a blog at all and wonder: What am I going to write? How long is this going to last? And most of all, Will anyone read it?

Yet in spite of all my doubts, I have all these little reasons for doing it relentlessly pinging around in my mind. If writing is one of my small ambitions, I have to start somewhere. I feel as if I may have something of value to share with others. Writing helps me process. But most of all, I hope to point us (me and you) to God through writing.

And so, my “then sings my soul” blog was born. It is not my first attempt, but I hope it will become my best by far. You may recognize the line “then sings my soul”—it was taken from the lyrics the classic hymn “How Great Thou Art.” Below is the first verse and chorus.

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

I love this song. Considering God’s might, beauty, goodness, grace, salvation, and so being moved to praise Him from the depth of my soul! I hope that this attitude of bringing God glory will be reflected in each post.

Nothing too monumental, but perhaps a good place to start.
