Reflection on Psalm 94:19
“When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”
Psalms 94:18-19
Just as the very presence of a loved one may bring comfort, so it is with God—if we would only be mindful of His presence.
Not only that, but His Spirit dwells in is and one of His names is “Comforter.” It seems “too simple”—and it’s just not. There’s really no quick fix for anxiety. Many times we may pray and continue to struggle.
It seems too simple—but it is. God is with us. He is solid, trustworthy, strong. He can work in our hearts and minds to bring peace. Yet even when our emotions don’t shift in the moment, we can cling to the hope of His very real presence with us.
And that brings us joy.
